A NEW TV series featuring a raft of local people from Trotternish is broadcast tonight (Tuesday) on BBC Alba.
‘An t-Eilean/From Skye With Love’ is the latest in a popular series which has followed the lives of Gaels across the West Highlands and Islands. Well kent faces from Staffin will be on screen in the seven-part series which starts at 8.30pm.
The production company who followed the lives of residents going about their daily lives in the peninsula for more than a year has made a very welcome donation to Staffin Community Trust (SCT) as a thank you.
Corcadal Productions were a familiar sight in Staffin and our neighbouring communities for several months and attended a range of events like the Staffin Sheepdog Trials, the Uig Gala, senior citizens lunch club at Columba 1400, the lamb and calf sales in Portree, Skye Camanachd matches etc.
SCT’s Skye Ecomuseum programme manager Angus Murray will be appearing during the series.
Two SCT projects will also be featured; the award-winning Gaelic in the Environment course led by the broadcaster Ruairidh MacLean and work carried out on the Broagaig path with Rabbie’s Backpackers earlier this year.
SCT does not have a regular income yet and is seeking to generate revenue to fund projects and running costs so any donations are much appreciated. SCT’s range of projects which are focused on creating employment in Staffin and improving the economy improving the community’s long term sustainability and securing a regular income for he community.
