MOVES to set up an emergency First Responders scheme and a new gym in Staffin have taken important steps forward, it has emerged.
The very latest updates on both unconnected developments are documented in the latest edition of the Staffin Autumn Newsletter which can be read online or hardcopies picked up from the two shops, the Post Office and Columba 1400.
The community council has worked hard with the Scottish Ambulance Service to investigate the appetite within the district for the volunteer programme which could help save lives and already runs in Raasay and Glendale.
Meanwhile, the sterling efforts by the Staffin Hall Committee has seen almost £40,000 raised for the proposed new gym. The committee is now looking to set up a steering group to progress the project and anybody interested is urged to get involved by contacting the chairman Martin Perry by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Staffin Trust has also outlined its plans to develop the website further, its progress in securing affordable housing and the latest on the Slipway and Ceumannan II developments.
