Remembrance Sunday Services in Staffin & Kilmuir

THE ultimate sacrifice made by men from Trotternish who served in the Boer and First and Second world wars, and military personnel from across the Atlantic, will be remembered this weekend.

Four services will take place at the Culnacnoc, Staffin, Kilmaluag and Kilmuir war memorials on Remembrance Sunday.

The Culnacnoc service will commence at 2.30pm before the Staffin commemoration at 3pm. The Staffin service will also remember the stricken American crew of the Flying Fortress which hit Beinn Edra more than 70 years ago, during WWII. The Remembrance Sunday service will also take place at Kilmuir from 3pm. The final service will be at Kilmaluag at 3.30pm. Staffin Community Council and the Staffin Fire Unit lay wreaths at both Staffin services and the names of the fallen are also read out. Everybody is welcome.

They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
we will remember them
