Safety barrier to be installed at Lealt gorge parking area
WORK on installing a new safety feature on the road leading to the new Lealt platform car park will be carried out next week.
Staffin Community Trust (SCT) closed the access road to the new car park in Lealt in February after freezing temperatures and icy surfaces prompted safety concerns.

Historic Flodigarry route restored by contractors in Skye Ecomuseum project
MAJOR restoration work on a historic and popular route in Staffin has been completed.
The upgrade of the badly eroded Flodigarry to Quiraing footpath, by Loch Langaig, was carried out by a team of path contractors from the Isle of Arran.

Bus drivers carry out repairs to Staffin Slip path
A GROUP of determined coach drivers and office workers have completed badly-needed repairs on a 19th century lifeline route in north Skye.

Sub-zero road conditions prompt safety measure at Lealt car park
FREEZING temperatures and ice has prompted the access road to a new car park in Staffin to be temporarily closed.
Staffin Community Trust (SCT) has lowered the height barrier at the foot of the road to its new upper car park at Lealt Gorge. The safety measure was implemented in order to stop vehicles attempting to drive up the track and potentially skid on the frozen surface.

DOG owners are being reminded of their responsibilities when walking near livestock in Staffin.
There have been recent worrying incidents in the Brogaig area which has seen terrified sheep end up in ditches after dogs have been let off their leads to roam.

WORK on two new path projects is now underway in Staffin, as the latest phase in the Skye Ecomuseum heritage development.
Following a competitive tendering process, Staffin Community Trust (SCT) has awarded contracts in Flodigarry and Grealin to Highlands and islands’ firms. Arran Footpaths Ltd, which recently completed a major contract at Glen Sligachan, for the John Muir Trust, this week started the upgrade of the popular Flodigary to Quiraing footpath, by Loch Langaig.
