“Gymming” it! New Staffin gym is smash hit with community

STAFF at the Staffin Gym are already flat out carrying out inductions at the newly-opened fitness base, which has been formally named by local school children.

The gym has captured the imagination of the local community and residents have clamoured to sign up as members and use the excellent new facility in Staffin Community Hall.

Fitness instructor Sam Crowe and trainee Anna MacDonald have been demonstrating to the new members how to position themselves properly on the machines and the correct approach to getting the best out of the equipment, which only opened last week in an attic above Staffin Stores.

Staffin Primary School pupils have come up with the name Aurora Fitness @ Staffin Gym. That refers to the gym’s functions such as inductions, fitness assessments, promoting health and membership. The gym, which was built by Staffin builders A&A MacDonald, includes two exercise bikes, two treadmills, a cross trainer, multi gym, rowing machine and small weights and mats.

The gym is at Talla Stafainn.
