A BUSY community shop and Jurassic museum are the latest additions to the online Staffin business listings, as the website’s popularity soars.
Nine Staffin businesses are now featured on the http://staffin-trust.co.uk/staffin-directory and Staffin Community Trust is looking to add more in the coming weeks as it seeks to further showcase what the Taobh Sear can offer.
Establishing a one-stop Staffin website was a key objective of the Staffin Trust’s board of directors as local businesses had repeatedly called in recent years for an online presence to be created. The burgeoning business directory includes just some of the array of businesses in the district including cafes, B&Bs, self-catering accommodation and a candle and quilters’ workshop/shops. Staffin Stores http://staffin-trust.co.uk/shops and the Staffin Museum http://staffin-trust.co.uk/visitor-attractions are the two latest entries, which comes after the website recorded more than 4,000 page views in the last four weeks.
The community-run shop, led by manager Effie MacLeod and her team, has ploughed £83,000 worth of profits back into Talla Stafainn since it was taken over almost 10 years ago and the museum founded by Dugald Ross, with Sylvia Porter working day-to-day, is a mecca for Jurassic enthusiasts from across the world.
There were 1,476 people who logged on to www.staffin-trust.co.uk in the last month. A massive 72 per cent of that figure have never been on the website before, which indicates visitors are actively searching for information on Staffin, the most popular part of the Isle of Skye.
