Wildlife in Staffin
Staffin, its moorland, croft land and coasts offer an exceptional variety of wildlife.
Eagles, both sea eagles and golden eagles, are a common sight. Look up on a clear and calm day and you may well see them soaring above you. There are also many other varieties with over 260 different species recorded on Skye in recent years.
Our coastlines are home to a variety of creatures, from year round residents like seals and dolphins to extraordinary visitors like orca and basking sharks. Spend time looking out to see and you may be lucky and spot something special.
Away from the shore, our hill and moorland is home to an increasing number of red deer with roe deer also present. You may also spot a fox, but they stay like to stay clear of people
